Edinburgh

Off to Edinburgh next week for a few nights, got young kids with us as well. Anywhere worth a visit whilst I'm there? Don't know what to expect as its a first time in Scotland apart from the cold weather.

The zoo and the castle for the kids are pretty obvious choices.

Depending on their age, Royal Yacht Britannia is well worth a visit

In addition to what has been suggested, the National Museum of Scotland is alright (again depending on age of kids) plus if you're looking for something free, a walk up Calton Hill is worth doing - great views of the city and Leith plus somewhere for them to run around. If it's pishing down then there's the vue cinema in Leith St which is walkable from Princes St.
If you do the Castle worth being up there at 1pm as that's when the gun goes off.

Depending on their age and the weather, a nice stroll up Arthur's seat is always good.
If they like a swin then the commonwealth games pool is quite near the bottom of it too.
Lovely place is Edinburgh.

I went to Edinburgh few weeks back and its a awesome place.
My Mrs wanted to do the Royal Yacht Britannia and it is well worth a visit.
The old town is full of yanks and chinks but the new town has loads of decent pubs and live music pretty much every night.

Spectacular place, a city built on the kind of geology people would go to see even if the city wasn't there.
But when I was last there, one of the landmarks I used to navigate between my B&B and the City Centre was a small pile of vomit - if it was there, I knew I was on the right one of two rather nondescript streets I'd otherwise confuse.

I'm there now. Going for a few swift halves in the Guildford arms. Classic pub.

Brilliant city. The castle. The Scott monument. Loads of superb bars and restaurants. Can't go wrong there really. World of whisky is a good morning and there is glenkinchie distillery just outside the city too

Its utter gash.
Plasticy tourist trap full of druggies and pretentious cunts.
Glasgow is far superior and more fun.
